The international Digital Excellence Campus 42 opened its first location in Austria in October 2022. 42 Vienna trains the next generation of top programmers and IT experts using the innovative and forward-looking 42 learning model: no teachers, no lectures and no fees.
We believe that everyone deserves the chance and opportunity to get the best education — regardless of financial means or academic qualifications. That's why the course offers open access, is free of charge and no prior qualifications are required. Instead, we cooperate with partners who believe in our graduates and check in advance whether applicants have the talent to study at 42.
With its location in the heart of Europe, Austria offers magnificent landscapes, cultural diversity and an attractive business and innovation location. The federal capital Vienna is even considered the city with the highest quality of life worldwide. However, Vienna also offers space for talent as an educational location and an ecosystem that creates perspectives and enables personal development.
42 Vienna offers a unique tech education for coding talents. The Digital Excellence Campus stands for open access and an innovative educational model - no teachers, no lectures and no fees. The campus 42 Vienna has been offering space for development and networking since October 2022 and will grow to around 500 students in the next three years. Further locations in Lower Austria (Amstetten) and Upper Austria (Wels) are being planned.

Studying in Amstetten and Wels
After Vienna we are planning to establish further campus locations in Amstetten and Wels. A fully-fledged 42 location requires not only the appropriate infrastructure but also sufficient students on site to be able to implement the learning concept. This requires sufficient time for preparation. However, we already want to offer interested 42 students from these regions the opportunity to complete parts of their studies in so-called "42 Project Spaces". This means that students do not have to move to Vienna, or only temporarily. This is particularly attractive if you are employed and do not want to give up your environment or your current housing.
What does this mean in practice:
Until the opening of the independent campus locations in Amstetten and Wels, all students registered at 42 Vienna.
Students from the regions can already make full use of the 42 Project Space in Amstetten and Wels.
It is mandatory to commute to Vienna for evaluations, exams or group projects required by the curriculum.
Especially at the beginning of your studies, it is also advisable to spend as much time as possible with your peers on campus in Vienna.
